At Hope House, we’re on a mission to make Good News Children’s Home (GNCH) in Malawi self-sustaining—giving orphaned and at-risk children the security, nourishment, and skills they need to thrive.

Located in the drought-prone Shire Valley, GNCH has long battled food insecurity and extreme poverty. But thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we’ve transformed dry, barren land into lush, food-producing fields by upgrading boreholes, installing irrigation, and training staff in sustainable farming. GNCH is now providing food not just for its 60 resident children but also for vulnerable families in the community.

Beyond agriculture and only with the generosity of financial partners, we’ve supported the staff of GNCH financially and emotionally, paid for university study for 5 GNCH students, provided clothing for the children, raised funds to buy medical supplies for the clinic, installed perimeter security, and provided training and material for staff to sew dormitory bedding. We’ve built a jungle gym and hosted workshops during our visits to nurture the children’s creative, physical and academic development.

Yet, our work isn’t done. To fully achieve Hope House’s vision of a self-sustaining future, we need to keep pushing forward.
